The seventh art in Bagnols is a family affair, and the Casino cinema, originally a theater built around 1890 in the Avenue des Variétés, has been in the family for three generations.
In his grandfather's time, in the thirties, we were witnessing the beginnings of talking pictures with Maurice Tourneur's film "Accusé, levez-vous".
Since then, cinema has changed a great deal. It took on its definitive exterior in 1948. Little by little, the second generation fitted it out to better meet the expectations of the population and the evolution of the film industry in France. The second 18O-seat cinema was built in 1971, the third in 1975 and the fourth in 1981 on the site of the former balcony.
Today, with a total of 678 seats and two cinemas equipped with Dolby stereo sound and accessible to people with reduced mobility, the Bagnols Sur Cèze cinema has nothing to envy the multiplex cinemas in the surrounding towns.
