This magnificent medieval village with a rich and authentic history occupies an exceptional natural site with a breath-taking viewpoint of the entry to the Ardèche gorges.

This magnificent medieval village with a rich and authentic history occupies an exceptional natural site with a breath-taking viewpoint of the entry to the Ardèche gorges.
Aiguèze is reputed for the gentle art of living of its inhabitants all proud of their title as one of the most beautiful villages of France. Discover their sense of hospitality and sparkling sense of humour.
What to see:
- Houses that reflect the history of the village, many with a medieval ground floor and Romanesque vaults and above a Renaissance part with mullioned windows.
- The parish church of Romanesque origin, listed as a historical monument. Note its Renaissance portal, the bell tower restored in Gothic style and the neo-Gothic frescoes inside.
- The Saint Roch fountain, located at the end of the Place du Jeu de Paume, reminds us of the village's patron saint.
- The rampart walk passing in front of the old castle (private), the Saracen Tower and the keep, offers great views of the Ardèche valley and the Mont Ventoux.
