Presentation
Today, it is the ideal place for you to get away during a walk, like a time travel.
In the Gallic Wars, Julius Caesar uses the term “oppidum” to refer to an open and fortified habitat, also forming an economic place, for trading, where he was able to resupply his legions. The oppidum of Gaujac, located at the top of the Saint-Vincent hill, is exactly in line with this ancient custom. Roman thermal baths have been discovered and appear to date back to the 6th century B.C. A village was established there a few centuries later, as you can see with the shards of pottery, the large blocks of stone, and the vestiges of a chapel from the 11th century. During the early Middle Ages, the Saint-Vincent oppidum of Gaujac has served as a place of refuge in the event of conflicts. Today, it is the ideal place for you to get away during a walk, like a time travel.
