Presentation
Two kilometers north of Laudun, famous for its vineyards, is the Camp de César, an 18-hectare archaeological site, one of the most important in the region. A limestone highland 200 meters above the Rhone valley, this Gallo-Roman Oppidum has vestiges from five periods of successive occupancy from the First Iron Age to the Middle Ages.
A true lookout point, there are magnificent views to be had.
Ongoing archaeological excavations have turned up many vestiges including a forum, basilica, ramparts, artisans' quarter, residential quarters, necropolis...
Visit on own.
A permanent exhibition in the village displays the greatest finds.
Themes: architecture, daily life, artisans' work, funerary rites...
